Workplace Relations Update: 1 July 2013 Changes

From 1 July 2013, businesses should be aware of a number of important changes:
- Increase to the minimum superannuation guarantee rate from 9% to 9.25% (for further information, please see our earlier article here)
- Increases of 2.6% to:
(a) the national minimum wage – The new national minimum wage will be $622.20 per week (for full-time staff), or $16.37 per hour (for part-timers); and
(b) modern award minimum rates.
This may affect businesses operating under a registered agreements or modern award (for further information, please see our earlier article here)
- Relevant changes to unfair dismissal rules:
(a) The high income threshold for eligible applicants will increase to $129,300;
(b) The compensation limit for unfair dismissal rules will increase to $64,650; and
(c) The filing fee for unfair dismissal will increase to $65.50.
