Victoria Legal Aid launches review into family law services

Victoria Legal Aid (‘VLA’) has recently launched a review into its services for parties involved in disputes involving parenting arrangements and child support which include the provision of legal information and advice.

The VLA Consultation and Options Paper published in January of this year states the purpose of the review to be to “ensure that family law legal aid services are fair, as widely available as possible, and sustainable”.  The interrelationship between family violence and wider family law issues is an issue earmarked for particular consideration, in line with the recent increase of community awareness surrounding the issue of family violence.

The call for community submissions on the Consultation and Options Paper has closed and VLA anticipates publishing their recommendations in June 2015.
