Update Regarding The Working Group On The Draft Guide To Good Practice On Article 13(1)(b)

24 Oct 2018

In September 2018, the 6th meeting of the Working Group on the draft Guide to Good Practice on Article 13(1)(b) of the 1980 Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction was held at the offices of the Permanent Bureau in the Hague, lead by the Honourable Diana Bryant AO QC, the former Chief Justice of the Family Court of Australia.

The mandate of the Working Group is to develop a Guide to Good practice on the interpretation and application of the “grave risk exception” to mandatory return of abducted children under the 1980 Hague Convention, in accordance with the objectives of the Convention.

At this most recent meeting, the Working Group discussed a revised draft of the Guide to Good Practice which the Hague Conference on Private International Law anticipates may be finalised and approved by the Council on General Affairs and Policy in March 2019.
