Shining a Light on World Suicide Prevention Day
Today, MST Lawyers would like to shine a light on World Suicide Prevention Day.
According to the World Health Organization, there are over 800,000 cases of suicide each year – one person takes their life every 40 seconds. In Australia, suicide numbers are increasing, and this does not include those people who attempt suicide, many of which go unreported. Every death and every attempt has very significant impact to families, communities, workplaces and beyond.
Many of us have lost someone to suicide and these are people we love, we work with and live with every day.
While today provides us with an opportunity to come together and talk about mental health and ask each other are you okay, we must not forget to check in with each other on a more regular basis.
If you or someone you know needs help, I ask you to please reach out to you family, friends, colleagues or make that call to Lifeline on 13 11 14.
