Shreya is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution & Litigation team at MST Lawyers. She has an inclination for commercial law, dispute resolution & litigation and has experience in regularly appearing in Court for her clients.

She has post admission experience in corporate and personal insolvency, and general commercial and corporate litigation. She previously worked as a Judge’s Associate. She is a qualified and registered lawyer in India as well where she gained experience in general commercial and IP matters. Shreya is also fluent in Hindi.

  • Acting for accounting professionals (administrators and liquidators) with corporations matters;
  • Acting for Franchisors and Franchisees during initial dispute stages, mediations and in court matters;
  • Significant experience in company wind up matters in Supreme Courts of various states for both creditor and debtor companies;
  • Significant experience in personal insolvency matters and appearance before the Federal Court.
  • Acted for clients in product liability claims and matters involving Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
  • Acted for clients in general commercial disputes ranging from Defamation, commercial and retail leases, commercial debt recovery, enforcement of contractual obligations and Intellectual property disputes.

Significant Matters

  • Acted for an administrator appointed to a group of companies that had a substantial list of creditors, exceeding $18 million in debt. The matter involved appearances in different states and Courts for multiple winding up and debt recovery actions.
  • Instructed before the Full Federal Court in the first Federal Court authority on the meaning of ‘serious harm’ under the Defamation Act 2005 (Vic) [Appeal from Selkirk v Hocking (No 2) [2023] FCA 1085].
  • Acted for a company and its director in a product liability claim and breach of guarantee claim under the ACL. The claim was in the vicinity of $1.2 million. The matter was successfully resolved to the clients’ satisfaction.
