Australian industry is under threat from the dumping of imported products into the Australian market. Australian manufacturers should not rely on any currency buffer and should carefully monitor the price levels of imported competitive products with a view to assessing if they are being dumped into Australia.
Last year the franchising industry faced government reviews federally and in WA and SA. One of the recommendations was to insert a clause into the Code requiring franchisors, franchisees and prospective franchisees to act in good faith.
Migrants sponsored by employers and those with critical skills now receive priority from the Department of Immigration. This means the processing time for employer sponsored and skilled migrants will be shorter and Australian industry can more easily access overseas labour for its ongoing needs.
