Spread the love

The Franchise Accountants Conference is a one-day event with speakers from The ACCC, The Fair Work Ombudsman, and experts in accounting and law.

MST Lawyers’ Principal, Alicia Hill will be speaking at the conference; providing an update for accountants on the legal aspects of franchising.

This session will cover the following topics.

  1. The introduction of ‘safe harbour’ provisions for directors to provide them with a defence to insolvent trading claims and what this means for accountants advising franchise businesses.
  2. The changes affecting ‘ipso facto’ clauses and how practically this may alter business practices and require advice to be provided to clients.
  3. The latest cases regarding the application of the Personal Properties Securities Act, the impacts felt by businesses and the necessary risk mitigation steps that businesses should be undertaking or being advised to undertake.
  4. What the new misuse of market power test will mean for businesses facing anti-competitive behaviour from competitors.

With the franchise sector facing significant challenges, including the Vulnerable Workers Bill and continued cost pressure, this conference will be of interest to accountants and anyone affiliated with the franchise industry.
