Bonsoy class action settles

The manufacturer, exporter and distributor of Bonsoy soy milk have settled the class action  brought by victims resulting in a payment reported to be over $25 million.

The claim arose when iodine was added to Bonsoy soy milk which resulted in serious health issues for over 500 consumers.

Class actions are proceedings brought by seven or more people where they have the same or similar factual circumstances that give rise to a claim.

The settlement is awaiting approval by the Supreme Court which is expected to occur early next year.
