John, a founding Principal of Mason Sier Turnbull, leads our Business & Property Law Group which includes the Intellectual Property, Media and Technology Team.

John is one of the few lawyers in Victoria to have been appointed by the Law Institute as an Accredited Specialist in both the areas of Business Law and Property Law.

His practice focuses on all aspects of commercial law with particular emphasis on:

• real estate agencies
• mergers and acquisitions
• corporate structures
• shareholder agreements and disputes
• family business structures and disputes
• asset protection
• joint ventures
• commercial property including subdivisions

John is the Chairman of the board of a family group of companies which has interests in the wine industry and commercial property market.

He is a director of the Monash Enterprise Centre which is a purpose built small business facility operating as the Monash Business Incubator.  The aim of the incubator is to facilitate new business development in the Monash area.

John is the Chairman of the Monash Business Awards, having held a board position for 12 years.

John's major transactions include:

• merger of two major real estate agencies
• restructuring of a franchised real estate agency
• conduct of a shareholder dispute for a large family business
• purchase of intellectual property rights held in the USA and China
• major commercial property transaction from due diligence, purchase, subdivision to sale

John is a member of Family Business Australia, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Law Institute of Victoria.
