Herbert is a Principal and leads our Workplace Relations Team.  He has been involved in workplace relations law for 20 years and has developed a team of highly trained specialist lawyers that work exclusively in the area of workplace relations.  It is one of the largest specialist workplace relations legal teams in Australia and is a leader in developing collective agreement regimes for non-unionised SME workplaces and is a specialist workplace relations advisor in the franchise and association sectors.

Herbert provides legal and strategic advice in workplace relations matters including:

• client specific simple and flexible workplace agreement strategies that remove legal impediments such as award conditions, union based restrictions and restrictive and inflexible legislative requirements
• implementing specifically designed workplace relation regimes for industry association members and franchise systems
• implementing accredited training solutions and, where possible, securing government funding
• the sale and purchase of businesses as they relate to overcoming legal obstacles typically involved in transmission of staff issues and the resulting imposition of antiquated and unsuitable workplace employment conditions
• resolving and avoiding workplace and industrial disputes
• redundancy and restructuring strategies
• outsourcing client HR functions and obligations without the need to employ a HR manager ensuring significant costs savings and improved specialist HR management and advice
• implementing low fixed price products for SME clients utilizing 'MST Workplace Solutions'

Herbert practices in all jurisdictions throughout Australia and regularly appears in both Federal and State jurisdictions across Australia. He is a member of the litigation lawyers section and the industrial relations section of the Law Institute of Victoria.  He is a regular speaker and presenter at national and workplace relations related conventions and seminars on workplace relations matters.

Herbert joined MST in 1990 as an Articled Clerk and quickly progressed to the role of Principal in July 1995.
